I’m an American living in Sweden learning how to make my favorite dishes in a new and foreign country. After living in different parts of the world I have picked up a few tricks in making my southern cuisine wherever home may be at that time. Magnus and Bella (our rescue dog from the US) don’t seem to mind my experiments and I hope you enjoy my journey of learning the wonderful Swedish cuisine and adapting my favorite recipes from home.

My Moma is a wonderful cook and I have been cooking and baking with her for as long as I can remember. When I was in high school my Moma called me into the kitchen and she told me that I was going to learn how to cook because I would never get a man unless I could cook for him. So I had cook many dinners for the family and friends from then on. She also taught me how to adapt the recipes, which has come in very handy since we have lived in many places. I did get a man and no I didn’t have to cook for him to marry me, but I do think he is happy that I can cook.

I have been very lucky to have a wonderful mother to teach me the basics and I own it to my Dad teaching me how to grill and cook seafood.  He is a true master with a grill and with seafood, and growing up on the coast of South Carolina that comes in very handy. So if I can cook half as well as either of them, then I should be a halfway decent cook.

If I am not in the kitchen cooking or baking I am out about taking photos of the new area that I call home. So please kick off your shoes, make yourself comfortable and stay awhile. Please feel free to leave comments or email me with any tips, ticks, or questions, I look forward to hearing from you. You can get in touch with me using the contact page.
